Can we talk about people who think a 10 PM noise ordinance is a suggestion?

My neighbor in the duplex throws a loud party every Friday, and the bass starts shaking my pictures at 10:15 like clockwork. I called the non-emergency line three weeks in a row, and the officer told me they can't do much until after 11 PM because it's a 'first warning' situation. It feels like the rule is only there to punish people who complain, not to actually keep things quiet. Has anyone else had to deal with this weird grace period where the law is on the books but not really enforced?

My buddy in an apartment had the exact same problem. His upstairs neighbor would blast music past 10 every weekend. The cops showed up once, gave a warning, and left. The music just got turned down for like twenty minutes then went right back up. It totally felt like the warning was just a game they had to play. He ended up moving because nothing ever changed.

Ugh that's so frustrating, it makes the whole rule feel pointless lol.

Wait, they actually let you do that? That completely defeats the purpose of having the rule in the first place. No wonder you're annoyed.
