Spent $150 on a noise-canceling fence panel setup and my neighbor's dog still wins

I dropped $150 on those foam soundproofing fence panels to block out my neighbor's husky that howls at 6 AM every day. They barely cut the noise, and now the dog just barks louder like it's a game. Has anyone actually found a cheap fix for a yappy neighbor's animal, or am I stuck with earplugs forever?

and yeah, those foam panels are mostly for echo inside a room, not blocking sound from outside. you need mass loaded vinyl or something heavy for that, not just foam. i feel your pain though, my neighbor's rooster used to crow at 4am and i wanted to scream. honestly, earplugs might be your cheapest bet unless you wanna drop real cash on a proper sound barrier. sometimes a white noise machine aimed at the window helps too, that's what i did after the fence failed.

Wait, are those foam panels actually soundproof or just sound-dampening?

Yeah the short answer is no, they're not soundproof at all. Those foam panels just soak up some of the echo inside your room, like making it less dead sounding. They won't stop your neighbor's subwoofer or a loud TV from coming through your walls. If you want actual blocking you need something heavy and dense, like mass loaded vinyl or even a second layer of drywall with green glue between them. Trust me I learned the hard way back when I lived next to a guy who practiced drums till midnight, foam did absolutely nothing.
