Spent $300 on a privacy fence and it paid off in 2 days
My neighbor's kid kept throwing parties every weekend. Music blasting until 3am. I tried talking to them, nothing changed. Finally bit the bullet and got a solid 6 foot cedar fence installed. Best money I ever spent. Now I can actually sit on my patio without hearing their bass. Anyone else found that spending money on barriers actually solved the problem?

Waited three whole months for my neighbor's tree to drop branches on my car before I finally trimmed it myself. Cost me fifty bucks for a saw and some rope. Fixed the problem fast. Your fence sounds nice but I wonder if you could have just called the cops on the noise instead of dropping three hundred bucks. Sometimes a simple complaint does the trick. But hey, if your patio is quiet now and you're happy, that's what matters.

Yeah, "a simple complaint does the trick" works sometimes, but it really depends on your neighbors. I had a similar thing with a guy who blasted music at all hours. Calling the cops just made him mad and he'd turn it back up after they left. Ended up buying a cheap white noise machine for my bedroom window. Cost me twenty bucks and solved it without any drama. Your method with the saw and rope sounds way more direct and less hassle than dealing with the city or cops. If I could have fixed it myself for fifty bucks, I would have done that too.
