Hot take: That $200 'pro' chef knife was the worst purchase I ever made

I dropped $200 on a Shun chef knife 3 years ago because everyone online said it would change my cooking game. Thing chips if you look at it wrong and I've spent more time sharpening it than actually using it. My $40 Victorinox from the restaurant supply store has held up better through daily use. Anyone else regret sinking cash into a fancy knife instead of a workhorse?

Bought a Wusthof on sale once. Still sitting in the box three years later.

Ever tried cooking with it yet? That's the only thing that got me to finally use mine.

Gotta disagree on the sharpening part, Shuns are harder to dull so less maintenance actually.
