Spent 45 minutes hunting for baking soda, it was in the fridge

I was making chocolate chip cookies on Tuesday and my recipe needed a teaspoon of baking soda. I swore I just bought a fresh box, so I tore through every cabinet twice before my partner pointed at the fridge door where I'd stashed it next to the hot sauce. Has anyone else lost ingredients to their own weird storage habits?

Why is it that the stuff you use all the time ends up in the most random spot? I do the same thing with scissors, they end up in the junk drawer, the bathroom, or next to the plant I was trimming. It's like your brain decides the item is done with its main job and just puts it somewhere "safe" without telling you. Then you waste 20 minutes looking for something that's basically in plain sight. I've started putting things back in the same spot every time, even if it feels dumb, just to break the cycle. Works about half the time, which is better than nothing.
