Splurged $60 on a fancy digital scale and it totally changed my bread game

I used to just eyeball my flour and water for years, you know, like my grandma did. But my loaves were always hit or miss, some came out flat as a pancake. Then I dropped $60 on this Escali scale after reading a bunch of baking blogs about hydration ratios. Man, the difference is night and day. My bread actually rises consistently now and the crumb is so much better. I feel kinda dumb for fighting the scale thing for so long, but also proud I finally got with the program. Has anyone else had a tool that seemed unnecessary but actually made you way more confident in the kitchen?

Right? It's funny how the right tool just clicks everything into place lol.

Did you see that article about how people who use kitchen gadgets more often actually cook more meals at home? It makes sense though, once you have the right tool you actually want to use it. I grabbed a rice cooker from a thrift store for like 8 bucks and now I make rice at least three times a week instead of ordering takeout. It's wild how one little thing changes your whole routine.

Got an instant pot on clearance for $30 and now I can make beans without soaking them overnight which is basically MAGIC to me. It sits on my counter looking all smug but honestly it earned its spot.
