A client in Chicago told me my fades looked too harsh under his office lights

He said the blend from skin to hair was too sharp and looked like a helmet indoors. I started using a softer guard transition and now spend an extra 5 minutes checking the blend under different lighting. Has anyone else adjusted their technique for how a cut looks in a client's normal environment?

My Chicago barber keeps a compact fluorescent bulb in his kit for exactly this reason.

Ever notice how some places have that weird greenish light that makes everyone look sick? Read an article once about how different bulbs can totally change how colors look, especially skin tones. That's why makeup artists hate those old office fluorescents. Your barber's smart to carry a specific bulb, probably gets the hair color right under normal light instead of his shop lights.

Actually, that's an LED bulb he carries, not a compact fluorescent.
