Had to choose between a free haircut for a toddler or a $50 tip from a regular
Last Tuesday, my 3 PM slot was a new client, a mom with a 2-year-old who'd never had a haircut before. Right as they walked in, my 10 AM regular, Dave, called and said he'd pay me $50 cash on top of his usual cut if I could squeeze him in right then because he had a big date. I picked the toddler, figuring the first haircut is a big deal. It went about as well as you'd think, complete with tears and a lollipop stuck in his hair. Dave was cool about it and came back the next day. Anyone else ever had a client try to bribe their way into your chair?

So did Dave ever tell you how that big date went after all that? You made the right call with the kid, but man, that's a story I'd want the ending to.

Oh the date story. That reminds me of my cousin's disaster last month. He planned this whole fancy dinner but showed up wearing two different shoes. She noticed right away and just laughed the whole night. They're weirdly still seeing each other.

Two different shoes is actually kind of charming.
