Our annual picnic featured a pitmaster who never rushed, and it clicked for me
I was at our town's yearly picnic this weekend. A pitmaster was running a huge smoker full of ribs. He moved slowly, checked temps, and just waited. It hit me that BBQ mastery is all about patience and timing. Do you agree that patience is the biggest challenge?

Patience is a big part of it, sure. But the hardest part for me has always been fire management. Keeping that steady heat, especially with different woods and weather, takes constant focus. You can be patient all day, but if your fire isn't right, the meat suffers. That split-second decision to adjust a vent is where the real stress happens. Timing is just one piece of a bigger puzzle.

It's just adjusting a grill vent, not defusing a bomb. Seems a bit dramatic for a backyard hobby.
