Shoutout to the guy who mentioned watching old BBQ competitions on VHS

I was scrolling through a different forum and saw someone talk about finding a box of old 'BBQ Pitmasters' tapes from the early 2000s. It made me think about how different the shows were back then. The focus was way more on the actual fire management and technique, not just the drama. I remember one episode from 2003 where a guy spent like 15 minutes just talking about maintaining 225 degrees in a rainstorm. Now everything feels so rushed and flashy. Does anyone else miss that slower, more technical vibe from the older shows?

Totally agree about the fire management focus! They'd show the whole process of building a charcoal bed, not just a quick cut to a finished brisket. It felt like you were actually learning something.

Everything's too fast now, even coffee.

Actually, I love the fast coffee trend.
