Almost told my sister her lasagna was better than Mom's, and I'm glad I kept my mouth shut
We were at my parents' house in Ohio for Easter and my sister brought her lasagna while Mom made her usual recipe, and I took one bite of my sister's and realized it was genuinely better. My mom asked what I thought and I opened my mouth to say the truth, then looked at her face and just said "it's really good, Mom" instead. Has anyone else ever swallowed a compliment for someone else so you wouldn't hurt a third person's feelings?
Oh man, that moment when you realize you have to pick between being honest and keeping the peace. Here's what gets me though. Did your sister hear you say that to your mom? Because if she was standing right there and you praised your mom's lasagna while your sister's was sitting on the same table, she probably knew exactly what was going on. Sisters pick up on that stuff. What did she say or do after, if anything? I'm really curious how she handled it because that could make the whole thing way more complicated.
