Appreciation post: My old threaded bottom bracket tool is better than the new stuff

Everyone seems to love the latest press-fit tools, but I think they make things too tricky. I've had the same threaded tool since I started, and it never fails. You learn to listen for the right click and feel the fit, which new gear just doesn't teach. Speed isn't everything if you lose that connection to the work.

New tools still need a good touch to work right, they just fix different problems.

Yeah, but my new socket set came with a Bluetooth speaker. My grandpa's tools never played my workout mix while the oil drained.

Borrowed my grandpa's old socket set for a car job last weekend. The weight and feel made every turn seem important and RIGHT. New tools are quick but miss the point of really learning the craft.
