My little basil plant finally grew 50 leaves after I moved it to the kitchen window

I kept it in a dim corner for weeks and it only had about 10 sad leaves. After moving it to the sunny kitchen spot last month, it just exploded with growth. Who knew a simple change of light could make that big a difference?

I was cleaning out a chimney from the 1920s last Tuesday. My camera showed a bundle tucked way up in the smoke shelf, wrapped in cloth. It looked like old papers, maybe deeds or something personal. I thought about just pulling it out and tossing it, since the job was already running long. But then I pictured the family who lived here, and what if this meant something to them? I always avoided reading in poor light until I learned the truth

For a long time, I believed that reading in dim light would ruin my eyesight for good. My parents and teachers always warned me about it. Then I came across some info from eye care experts online. They said it only leads to short term strain, not permanent damage. I tried reading with a soft lamp for a month and my eye doctor said my vision was fine. Now I don't stress about it and just read where I'm comfortable. It's one less thing to worry about every day.

I never got the fuss about artichokes until I had them grilled.

Artichokes always seemed like too much work for little reward. A friend served them grilled with lemon butter at a barbecue. The smoky flavor and tender leaves were a game changer. I buy them fresh every chance I get now.
