My little basil plant finally grew 50 leaves after I moved it to the kitchen window

I kept it in a dim corner for weeks and it only had about 10 sad leaves. After moving it to the sunny kitchen spot last month, it just exploded with growth. Who knew a simple change of light could make that big a difference?

Read an article once that called light a plant's food. Makes sense when you see that kind of jump. My own herbs always get leggy and weak on the shelf above my sink. Might need to try the windowsill method.

Watched my own basil turn into a sad, single-stemmed twig before I figured out the light thing. @alice_grant, my herbs got so leggy they looked like they were trying to escape the pot. Felt like a real plant detective moving every green thing I own closer to a window. The difference is almost embarrassing, like I was accidentally starving them for months.

Yeah, it's wild how much light they actually need. I had a rosemary plant that basically became a tiny, sad tree reaching for the window. Felt like a bad plant parent once I moved it.
