Oh man, that's a great save. Those little tools are totally worth it sometimes.

Check the chain for stiff links by bending it sideways with your fingers. I had a customer's bike where three links were basically frozen, and the checker caught it before it snapped on a hill. A quick lube fixed it, but without the tool I would have missed it.

Yeah it's wild how we get used to things being a little bit broken and just work around it. I see it with my phone charger that only works at a certain angle, or a door in my apartment that sticks. You just push harder and forget it's not supposed to be that way. Makes me wonder what other small fixes I'm missing because I don't have the right tool to spot the problem.
