Hated The Wire for years. Now I get it.
I watched the first episode of The Wire like four times over 8 years. Fell asleep every single time. Too many characters, too slow. Then last month I forced myself through the first 3 episodes. By episode 5 I was hooked. Now I'm halfway through season 3 and I can't believe I wasted so much time. Anyone else have a show they hated until they gave it a real chance?

Used to be a Breaking Bad hater for years. Watched the first season and couldn't see what everyone was raving about, thought it was just a guy cooking meth and being miserable. Then I stuck with it and by the time he started hiding in the crawl space I was glued to the screen. Total turn around, feels silly looking back now.

lol yeah the crawl space scene is when the show just clicks for everyone. But honestly @sarah531 I think the weirdest thing about Breaking Bad is how the slow burn actually makes the crazy parts hit harder. Most shows try to hook you right away with action, but this one builds everything brick by brick until you're trapped in it too. That's why people who quit early miss the whole point, the show is designed to make you feel just as stuck as Walt does. Once you get past the first season it's like a completely different show.
