Reddit convinced me to give The Expanse another shot after quitting 3 times

Idk, I watched the first two episodes like a year ago and thought it was way too slow. Kept seeing people on here saying "you gotta get past episode 4" so finally last week I pushed through to episode 5. That moment on the Donnager where things go sideways totally hooked me. I binged the whole first season in two days after that. Has anyone else had a show they had to force themselves through the early episodes to get to the good part?

Three times, huh... you're more patient than me, I quit after the first episode and didn't come back for like six months. That Donnager scene is what did it for me too though, the whole chaos of that ship battle just came out of nowhere after all that slow burn. It's funny how a show can have a bunch of setup that feels boring until you realize it was all necessary to get you invested. Glad you stuck it out, season two really ramps things up even more.

Saw a review saying the first few episodes are basically just prologue, checks out.

It's basically the same thing as learning to cook a complicated dish, you chop all the vegetables and it feels pointless until the flavor suddenly hits. Every hobby I've stuck with had that rough intro period where the payoff seemed miles away, but the groundwork was quietly doing its job the whole time. Seems like most good things in life demand a little patience before they click, which is annoyingly true but hard to argue with after you've tasted the result.
