Vent: That hyped up show 'The Consultant' was a total miss for me
Everyone in this sub kept recommending The Consultant like it was the next Breaking Bad or something. I finally watched it last week and man, I don't get the hype at all. The pacing was so slow I barely made it through 4 episodes before I gave up. The lead actor was trying too hard to be creepy but it just came off as goofy after a while. I work in a corporate office myself so I figured I'd relate but the whole office culture part was totally unrealistic. Nobody actually acts like that in real life even at the worst managed places. Did anyone else feel like this show was way overrated or am I just missing something here

I was actually hyping this show before, but you're right, the whole office part felt fake.

Yeah the "felt fake" part is spot on. I keep noticing that same thing everywhere now, not just on TV. Like you'll see someone's "perfect" desk setup on Instagram or a "casual" meeting scene where nobody has a single piece of paper out of place and it just kills the vibe. Real offices are messy, people have stacks of random binders and half empty coffee cups everywhere. The show probably did that to make it look clean for the camera but it just ends up making the whole thing feel like a commercial instead of real life.

You mentioned the "perfect" desk setup thing and it reminded me of this time I walked into a coworking space and every single desk had exactly one plant, one mug, and a MacBook at the same angle. Felt like I stumbled onto a movie set. @parker_thomas probably knows the exact type of place I'm talking about. The whole thing just makes you feel like you're in some weird ad for minimalism instead of actually getting work done.
