I used to think a proper forge needed a massive, roaring fire, but after my neighbor's cat knocked over my coffee can forge and I had to fix a hinge with a blowtorch and a pan of charcoal in my driveway, I realized sometimes simple works.
Now I keep a small, portable setup for quick fixes, and it's saved me more times than I'd like to admit, so what's the most absurd 'makeshift forge' you've ever had to use in a pinch?

My buddy once had to straighten a bent trailer hitch on a camping trip. He ended up using an old hubcap, a bunch of those quick-light charcoal bags, and a leaf blower on low to get it hot enough. It looked insane, like some post-apocalyptic repair, but he got the job done and we made it home.

Remember my friend who used a rock and a tow strap?

Sounds like a good way to get hurt. Proper tools exist for a reason.
