Shoutout to the old timer at the Montana fair who showed me his tong trick

He was making a simple pair of scrolling tongs and told me, 'The secret is to upset the reins before you punch the hole, not after.' I tried it back at my shop and it saved me a ton of time and effort. Anyone have other little tricks for making tongs faster?
