My Gen Z cousin made me rethink my whole 'kids these days' rant last night
I was going off about how Gen Z just wants everything handed to them and my cousin pulled out a spreadsheet showing she's working two jobs plus a side hustle just to afford rent in a shared apartment in Austin. She said 'we're not lazy, we're just tired of playing a game where the rules change every year.' Now I'm wondering if I was too hard on them or if this is just my generation's turn to sound like our parents did back in the day.

Honestly, "tired of playing a game where the rules change every year" really stuck with me. Nobody talks about how housing prices and rent have doubled since like 2015, but the minimum wage barely budged. My buddy's kid is a welder at 23, makes decent money, but still can't save for a house because every month something else gets more expensive. It's not laziness, it's that the ladder got pulled up right when they started climbing.

Yo @victor_adams, read something the other day that said back in the 80s a kid could work a summer job and cover a year of college tuition. Now you need three jobs just to keep up with rent. Your buddy's kid is probably doing everything right and still getting nowhere. It's brutal.
