Played Gloomhaven solo vs. with my regular group last weekend

I finally got Gloomhaven to the table by myself after always playing with my Friday night group. Took me about 6 hours to set up and run through two scenarios solo. My group usually takes 4 hours for one scenario because we argue about every move. The solo mode was way more efficient since I controlled all the characters and knew my own plans. But man it felt lonely without the banter and surprise plays from my friends. We had one guy last session who spent 10 minutes on his turn deciding between two cards. Has anyone else found a good middle ground between solo speed and group fun?

That 10 minute player would make me lose my mind. I run a timer on my phone for my own games at home when I am overthinking, keeps me from getting stuck. For group play we started doing a sand timer on the table for anyone who takes too long, and now we all just laugh when the sand runs out. Timer is the answer, it works for dishes at a restaurant and it works for initiative.

Set a chess clock for your group. 2 minutes per turn, hits the table. Keeps it fast but you still get the yelling and laughs.

Try a timer for each player's turn, keeps things moving without losing the group fun.
