I used to think those fancy tungsten electrodes were just hype
Swapped to a 2% lanthanated on a stainless job last Thursday and the arc was so stable I didn't have to re-sharpen once, so consider me converted has anyone else noticed a big difference switching rod types?

Man, that lanthanated stuff really does make a difference, good to hear it worked out for you.

Actually I had the opposite experience the other week. I grabbed a pack of 2% lanthanated by accident - thought it was my usual 1.5% - and it honestly just didn't feel right on my machine. Might've been the batch though, I've heard different brands can vary pretty wildly. A buddy of mine swears by that ceriated stuff for thin stainless, calls lanthanated overhyped.

@miles946 Have you tried pure tungsten on aluminum though, totally different ballgame?
