Unpopular opinion: I used to think a 4-inch grinder was fine for everything until I saw a guy in Omaha zip through a 3/4-inch bevel with a 7-inch in half the time.
I switched to a 7-inch Metabo for all my heavy plate prep about a year ago and now I won't go back, but what's your go-to wheel brand for those big grinders?

My old 4-inch DeWalt still handles 90% of my shop work. The big 7-inch grinders are beasts for heavy plate, but they're overkill for most cuts and a pain to use overhead. I burned through three expensive name-brand wheels on a single rail job last month. Sometimes the extra power just means you go through consumables twice as fast.

Burned through three wheels on one job? That's wild. I've been running Pferd cut-off wheels on my big grinder for months now and they just don't die. The difference in how long they last is crazy.
