Our group's debate over 'Beloved' got so heated that Sarah from Toledo actually left the Zoom call early last Tuesday.

We were supposed to discuss the ghost as a metaphor, but it turned into a personal argument about historical responsibility that left everyone silent for a full minute after she disconnected. Has your club ever had a disagreement that broke the meeting?

@alice_palmer20 hit it. Set ground rules first next time. No personal attacks, no walking out.

Our philosophy group in Austin once had a three week standoff about free will. It got so bad we had to bring in a mediator from the local community college. Makes you wonder if some books are just meant to start fights, right?

Ha, sounds about right. Honestly though, the fight's already in the room before anyone cracks the book. Those philosophy texts just hand people the ammo they were already looking for. The real trick is getting a group to talk about hard ideas without it turning into a cage match.
