Re-read my favorite book after 15 years, totally different story now

Picked up The Great Gatsby again since high school, and I couldn't believe how much I missed the first time. Back then it was just about a party guy, now I see all the quiet desperation in every scene. Anyone else have a book that completely flipped for them on a second read decades later?
