TIL that cheap cotton bedsheets make better book cloth than the fancy stuff I bought at $18 a yard
I grabbed a $4 thrift store sheet on a whim and backed it with wheat paste, and it wrapped corners cleaner than the linen I'd been buying for 2 years. The weave is tight enough that the paste doesn't bleed through, and it takes acrylic paint fine for titles. Has anyone else gone cheap on book cloth and regretted it, or is the expensive stuff really worth it?
Wait, $18 a yard and the cheap sheet beat it? That blows my mind because I always assumed you get what you pay for with this stuff. The tight weave thing makes sense though, since paste bleeding through has wrecked a few of my projects before.
