Pro tip: my sad grocery store basil bounced back in 11 days, here is what did it
Picked up a half dead basil plant from the clearance rack at the Kroger on High St for $1.50, it was drooping and had yellow leaves. Moved it to a south window, pinched off the flower buds, and gave it a real soak instead of tiny daily splashes, and by day 11 it had 7 new leaf pairs. Anyone else rescue clearance herbs, or am I just cheap?
Oh man, I do this all the time! Last summer I grabbed a sad little mint from the Lowe's clearance rack for a dollar, and it looked so rough I almost felt bad for it. I did the same thing you did, real deep watering instead of those little sips, and put it in a sunny spot by my kitchen window, and within two weeks it was taking over the whole pot. My husband jokes that I can't walk past a dying plant without wanting to save it.
