Worst day of the week with a dying fern in my living room
I came home Tuesday and my 5 year old staghorn fern looked like it had been through a drought. Turns out my roommate decided to "help" by moving it to a sunnier spot, but it got scorched in the afternoon light. I spent 2 hours trimming dead fronds and soaking the root ball, but I think it might be a goner. Has anyone else had a plant recover from severe leaf burn like that?

You mentioned trimming dead fronds and soaking the root ball. I was reading an old gardening blog the other day that said some ferns can bounce back from severe leaf burn if the roots are still healthy. It takes months, not weeks, so don't toss it yet. I've heard staghorn ferns are tougher than they look once you get the watering right again. Maybe try moving it to a spot with only morning sun and see if new growth starts from the center. Keep the humidity up too, I read they like that after stress.

@thea857 wait, your roommate moved a mature fern without asking? That's insane to me.

Yeah, it's wild how people just assume they know what's best for your stuff (especially plants).
