My old boss at the kennel swore by one dog food brand, and 4 years later I finally get why

So back when I was apprenticing at a grooming shop in Boise, my boss Dana had this rule where every dog that came in got the same brand of treats, a salmon one from a company I won't name. I thought she was just being stubborn, like she had a deal with them or something. She told me once, 'watch which dogs stop scratching after a month, then tell me it's nothing.' I sort of rolled my eyes. Fast forward to last year, I opened my own shop, and I started noticing the same thing with my own clients. Dogs that were on cheap grocery store food came in with dull coats and hot spots, and the ones on that same salmon stuff looked like show dogs. So I ran a little test for 6 weeks on 11 regulars, put half on the salmon treats and half on a random bag from the pet store down the street. The salmon group had way less itching, like night and day. Now I don't push any brand on people but I do tell them what I've seen. Dana was right and I was too proud to admit it for almost 4 years. Anyone else have a groomer or vet who called something that took you forever to believe?
