My old Ford truck ran for 20 years, then my new one spent 3 weeks in the shop

I drove the same F-150 from 2003 until last year, and it only ever needed basic stuff like oil and brakes. I finally traded it in for a new 2023 model, and within six months the transmission started acting up. It was in the dealership for almost a month while they waited on a part. That kind of drop in quality over two decades makes me think brand loyalty is just based on old memories. Has anyone else had a newer model from a trusted brand totally let them down?

My buddy's new Silverado needed a new engine at 5,000 miles.

New engine at 5,000 miles? That seems like a huge claim. What actually happened? A lot of times a check engine light turns into a story. Could have been a sensor or a simple part swap. Engines don't just die that fast without a major defect, and those usually get a recall.

I heard GM had a bad batch of engines around that time.
