Just blew $400 on a 'professional' mortar mixer that clogged solid after two batches

My cousin in Texas bought a mixer like that last year. He said the same thing happened, just jammed up with the dry mix. He ended up having to take the whole drum apart with a hammer and chisel. Now he just uses a heavy duty drill and a paddle in a big bucket. Seems like a lot of those "pro" tools for small jobs are just junk.

A hammer and chisel on a mixer?

Had the same thing happen with a mixer from a big box store. After the second bag of mix it was just a solid block of cement. @rowan_roberts49 is right about the hammer and chisel, that's basically what I did to get the drum clean. Now I just rent a proper tow-behind mixer for anything more than a small patio job. Those little ones are more trouble than they're worth.
