I bought a $20 rice cooker at a yard sale and it completely changed my weeknight dinners.

Man, I get it now. I always thought rice cookers were just for people who eat rice every single day. But I started throwing in lentils and some chopped veggies with the rice. It all cooks together while I'm doing other stuff. Suddenly I have a full meal ready with almost no effort. It's crazy how one cheap gadget can make cooking feel so much simpler.

Right? It's a total game changer. My roommate makes oatmeal in ours every morning, just dumps in oats and water. That thing is basically a tiny, magical kitchen robot.

Wait, does your roommate ever add a pinch of salt to the oats? That was my big mistake for years. I tried @william_carter's lentil idea last week and totally forgot to season it, so it tasted like wet cardboard.
