I thought making my own veggie broth from scraps would be a quick 20-minute job, but separating the good scraps from the moldy ones in my freezer bag took me over an hour.

Has anyone found a better system for sorting kitchen scraps before they go in the freezer?

My freezer had a bag of green beans from 2022 that grew a fur coat. I had to chip it out with a butter knife like some kind of freezer archaeologist. At that point, you don't even ask what it is anymore, you just accept it's a new life form. I'm pretty sure mine was trying to communicate. The whole thing makes me question what else is hiding in the back behind the ice trays.
