Picked up a $20 pressure cooker from a garage sale and just hit meal #52 with it

I found this old Presto pressure cooker at a garage sale on Oak Street for 20 bucks about 3 months ago. I was skeptical at first because it's not one of those fancy electric ones. But I decided to give it a try for making dried beans and tough cuts of meat. I started counting the meals I made with it to see if it was worth the money. Last night I hit 52 meals which means each meal cost me about 38 cents for the cooker itself. That does not include the ingredients but still it feels like I got my money back about 20 times over. Has anyone else found an odd piece of kitchen gear that ended up paying for itself that fast?

Those old jiggle-top Prestos are tanks. 52 meals is legit though, I bet that thing has already paid for itself in saved electricity vs a slow cooker too.

Oh man, totally. Those old Prestos just don't quit. I've seen ones from the 70s still going strong. And for the electricity part, yeah, it's a pretty big difference over time if you use it a lot. The pressure does all the heavy lifting much faster than a slow cooker.
