A hostel worker in Budapest told me I was packing wrong, changed everything
She said stop rolling clothes, start folding them in stacks like a filing cabinet. Now I fit 10 days of stuff in a carry-on, no vacuum bags needed. Anyone else get packing advice from a random local that actually worked?

Wait. No rolling? That’s the opposite of everything I’ve ever seen online. Rolling is supposed to save space and prevent wrinkles. Folding stacks sounds like it would leave huge gaps in the bag. I’m trying to picture it and my brain is short-circuiting. Did she actually show you a photo of her bag packed like that?

I mean, is packing really this deep of a science lol. My brain short circuits over which socks to bring, not how I fold them inside a bag. People act like rolling vs folding is the difference between life and death when we're just going to a hotel for three days. Let her fold her stacks and see what happens, worst case she wears wrinkled shirts and lives to tell the tale.
