Found a solid way to cut hostel costs by being a morning person
I stayed at a hostel in Denver last spring and noticed the price dropped by like 15 bucks a night if I booked the 6 AM check-in slot instead of the regular arrival window. Turns out hostels sometimes run these early bird rates to fill beds during slow morning turnover, but they never advertise it on the main page. I had to scroll down to the fine print on their booking system to spot it, and the front desk guy confirmed it when I asked. He said they do it to keep the cleaning crew from having a mad rush all at once, so they offer a discount to folks who show up before 8 AM. I saved almost $45 over a three-night stay just by dragging my suitcase in before the coffee was ready. Has anyone else found hidden rate categories by digging into the booking settings like that?

Ngl I used to think early bird rates were just a gimmick for hotels trying to fill rooms nobody wanted. But reading this actually makes a lot of sense. Hostels having a slower morning turnover period is totally a real thing, and offering a discount to spread out check-ins sounds smart from their side too. I always booked the cheapest option without scrolling down so I probably missed deals like this multiple times. Definitely gonna start checking the fine print on booking pages now. Kinda wild they hide it like that though.

Yeah same here honestly. I always assumed early bird stuff was just a trick to get you to pay upfront for a worse room or something. But the check in turnover thing makes total sense when you think about it from their side.
