I always thought booking flights on Tuesday was the big secret, but a chat in a Lisbon hostel changed my mind
About three years ago, I was stuck in Lisbon trying to get to Berlin without spending a ton. I was telling another traveler my usual Tuesday trick, and he just laughed. He said, 'I mean, that's fine, but have you ever just searched by the whole month on Google Flights?' I tried it right then, looking at the whole calendar view for the next month. I found a flight on a random Thursday that was 60 euros cheaper than anything I saw on a Tuesday. It made me realize the day you book matters less than being flexible with when you fly. Now I always check the full month view first. Has anyone else found a better trick than the old 'Tuesday' rule?

What about being flexible with your airport too? I found a flight to "London" that was way cheaper into Stansted instead of Heathrow, even on the same day. The train into the city cost a bit, but I still saved over a hundred bucks.

And that train ride from Stansted is a real budget killer if you don't plan for it.

Ever tried to get from Stansted to central London? That train ride feels like its own separate vacation.
