My brother's 'always book the red-eye' rule cost me a hotel night in Phoenix
My brother swears by red-eye flights to save on lodging, so I took his advice for a Phoenix trip last spring. Landed at 2 AM, figured I'd just sleep at the airport until my hostel check-in at noon. Turns out that terminal turns into a wind tunnel with the AC cranked, plus security kept waking me to scan my boarding pass for a flight I already took. I ended up paying $68 for a pod hotel just to get three hours of sleep, which ate up my whole budget for meals that day. Anyone else found that red-eyes only work if you've got somewhere to crash immediately?

My buddy Kyle slept in a Denver bathroom stall once. Never again, he says.
