The choice between a hostel bed and a night bus in Berlin

Last month I had to pick between a 30 euro hostel bed or a 12 euro overnight bus to Prague. I chose the bus to save cash and get some travel time done. It was a FlixBus, left at 11pm and arrived at 6am. I slept maybe two hours total and felt wrecked the next day. The savings were real, but I spent 15 euros on coffee just to function. Has anyone found a good middle ground for cheap overnight stops?

Been there, that next day is brutal.

Oh, the classic budget travel trap. I once did a similar bus ride from Amsterdam and spent the whole next day in a Prague museum, asleep on a bench. The guard thought I was a very still art piece. For a middle ground, I've had luck with airport lounges. Some have showers and you can sometimes buy a day pass for less than a hostel, if you time it right.

Sleeping in a museum sounds like a choice, not a trap. I've done those overnight buses and yeah, you feel rough, but it's a few hours of pain for a cheap ticket. Simon113, the airport lounge tip is solid, but that's just paying to be less miserable. Sometimes you just have to accept the grime for a day.
