My weekly spread used to be a total mess, now it actually works

Six months ago my weekly pages were just a jumble of tasks and random notes, I could never find anything. I started drawing a simple two-column layout with a space for appointments on the left and my to-do list on the right. After sticking with it for a month, I can actually see my whole week at a glance and nothing gets lost. Has anyone else found that a basic layout change made the biggest difference?

What makes a layout actually work for you though? I tried the two column thing and it felt too boxed in. My brain needs more freedom to just write stuff down wherever it fits on the page. Forcing everything into sections made me avoid opening my planner. The mess is what makes sense to me, I can track my thoughts better when it's all just flowing together. A clean layout just adds pressure.

Totally get that about the mess making sense. I see this everywhere now, like how people hate those perfectly staged Instagram rooms because they feel fake. Your brain wanting things to flow together is just a better fit for how actual life happens, not those separate boxes.

Yeah that two column thing would make me feel trapped too lol. So when you say your thoughts flow together, does that mean you mix, like, grocery lists with meeting notes on the same page? I'm trying to picture how you find stuff later without any sections.
