Hit 1,000 miles on hiking boots I bought 6 months ago and they fell apart today
I was tracking my mileage to justify the cost of buying expensive gear, but the sole completely separated on a trail in Shenandoah - should I try to glue them back or just call it a loss and switch to a different brand?

Justify the cost of expensive gear" - 1000 miles is actually really good for boots, not a loss.

Ask how many times they had to replace $40 boots in that same timeframe before they learned their lesson. Most people who complain about boot prices are the same ones buying cheap pairs every 6 months. Is the real issue the upfront cost or just not wanting to admit you get what you pay for?
