Shoutout to the hardware store in Phoenix that lets you rent tools by the hour

I needed a concrete saw for a 2 hour job and buying one would've been $200. They charged me $18 an hour, no minimum. Has anyone else found a place that does hourly rentals without a full day markup?

dude that tucson place sounds legit, @olivia_allen. i swear half the battle is just finding a shop that doesnt treat you like youre gonna steal their tools the second you walk out the door. that "we dont care if you bring it back in an hour" attitude is exactly what we need more of.

Stumbled onto a place in Tucson that does the same thing with pressure washers and their whole "we don't care if you bring it back in an hour" attitude literally saved me on a gutter cleaning job last spring. I walked in, grabbed the machine, did my thing, and was back before the paint dried (okay, not really, but you get the idea). The guy at the counter even knocked off the first hour because I was in and out so quick, which I thought was super cool. It honestly makes no sense why more places aren't doing this, because I'd probably rent way more often if I knew I wasn't getting stuck with a full day charge for a 45 minute task.

Honestly, my buddy rented a post hole digger from a place in Flagstaff last summer and the guy literally told him "bring it back whenever, I'm not tracking hours on that thing." He had it for three hours and they charged him for one, which is wild. @olivia_allen hit the nail on the head when they said more places should do this. Ngl, I feel like if hardware stores just trusted people a little more with hourly rentals, they would actually make a killing off folks like us who need a tool for 90 minutes and don't want to buy a whole new one. Tbh, the only reason I even knew about that Flagstaff spot is because I asked the guy at the counter what his slowest day was and he laughed and said "Tuesday after lunch, nobody's in here.
