The $40 meat thermometer that exposed my 6 year cooking lie
Ngl, I was searing steaks on a screaming cast iron for years and calling them medium rare, then last week my buddy brought over his instant read and pulled mine off the heat at 145 degrees, so has anyone else had that moment where a cheap tool shows you've been doing it wrong the entire time?

Bought one a few years back and felt like a total idiot. All those "perfect" steaks I was bragging about were actually well done. Now I pull everything at 128 and let it rest. Game changer for sure.
