Shoutout to using a cheap plastic putty knife for cleaning glue squeeze-out. My mentor in Tacoma swore by it for 20 years, and after trying a metal scraper for months, I finally switched.

My dad always used an old credit card for that same job. He said the plastic was just soft enough to not scratch the wood but still get under the glue. I still have a few of his cards in my shop drawer.

Try a plastic putty knife instead, works way better.
