An old guy in a Daytona Beach condo showed me his original 1978 cable bill

He said 'Son, this used to cost me $8 a month and they sent a man in a tie.' Makes you think about how much the job has changed. Anyone else run into customers who remember the very early days?

Man, that hits different. My granddad used to tell me the same kind of thing about his phone bill. A real person would come out to fix it, no automated phone tree. It feels like we traded that personal touch for lower prices and more channels. I miss that human part of the job sometimes.

Totally get what you mean, @west.henry. But I'm not sure we always got lower prices in that trade, just more hassle. Do you think we could have kept some of that human touch?

Remember when a wrong number was just a fun chat?
