I finally switched to digital line testers, but the old analog ones felt more trustworthy.

Maybe it's just me, but the new screens don't give the same vibe.

What made the analog needles feel more real, was it the physical movement? Like, you could see the sweep and it felt tied to what was happening, not just numbers on a screen. I miss how a shaky needle showed a weak signal, lol. Digital just gives a reading, but it doesn't have that same hands-on vibe.

Wait, you could actually see a weak signal?

Remember the old VU meters on tape decks? That needle bouncing into the red showed you were overloading the input in a way a blinking "CLIP" light just doesn't. You could see the sound pressure. Same with a car's temp gauge creeping up, you watched the threat develop. A digital readout just pops a number, it's a result, not a show.
