Spent 45 minutes fighting a stuck tent pole in a rainstorm in Vermont...

I was soaked and about to give up when I realized the pole section was just twisted inside the sleeve. Has anyone else dealt with poles getting twisted like that on a wet night?

@ryanh56 I'm with you on the dish soap tip but honestly a quick twist from outside worked better for me.

Oh man, that is such a classic wet night struggle. In my experience, the biggest issue is that the fabric sleeve gets all tight and bunched up when it's soaked, which traps the pole sections. I've definitely had to wrestle with a twisted pole in a downpour, and it's never fun. Your best bet is to try to shake the pole gently from the outside of the tent to see if you can loosen the twist before you start pulling. A little bit of dish soap on the pole joint can also help if you ever have to take it apart while it's wet. Just take it slow and don't yank, or you'll tear the sleeve fabric. Your mileage may vary but that's saved me a few headaches in the past.
