Took me three hours to figure out my new camp stove fuel line

Got a new liquid fuel stove for a trip to the White Mountains. The priming pump felt stuck right out of the box. I messed with it for what felt like forever, checking the manual and online videos. Turns out the O-ring was seated wrong from the factory. Who else has had a simple piece of gear need a full teardown before first use?

That "seated wrong from the factory" thing is everywhere now. Feels like you have to be a part-time mechanic just to use basic stuff.

Yeah the part-time mechanic line is so true. It's like everything needs an extra fix right out of the box now.

Remember when stuff was built to last. I get that some things need a tweak, but a lot of it is just us being pickier now. The baseline for what works fine is way higher.
