Unpopular opinion: that expensive titanium cook set was a total waste
Spent $120 on a titanium pot and pan set for backpacking, and honestly my old aluminum mess kit worked better. The titanium burned my oatmeal in under 3 minutes on a whisperlite. Anyone else find that titanium just doesn't spread heat evenly?

Did you preheat the pan at all before adding the oatmeal?

My grandma used to make oatmeal in this old aluminum pot she’d had since the 60s, and she never once preheated anything. She’d just dump the oats and water in cold and turn the burner on high until it boiled over every single time. The stove top was a mess constantly but she swore that was the only way to get that “skin” on top she loved. Honestly I think she just hated waiting an extra two minutes for the pan to warm up. So no, I don’t preheat my pan either, but mostly because I’m too impatient and have a deep respect for her chaos method.
